This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who handles it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, so if anything is unclear, ask us.
What we collect
- Server logs. When you load a page, our hosting provider processes the technical details your browser sends, including your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use these logs to run and secure the site.
- Contact form submissions. If you write to us through the form on our contact page, the name, email address, and message you enter are delivered to our mailbox. The form is protected by a spam check, described below.
- Consent choices. Your cookie choices are stored in your browser so the site remembers them. The details are in our cookie policy.
That is the whole list. There are no reader accounts on this site, and comments are disabled, so we do not collect comment data. We do not run advertising or analytics today, which means no advertising or analytics cookies are set and no usage profile is built. If we add either, this policy is updated first.
Who handles your data
A small number of service providers process data on our behalf to keep the site running:
- Hosting. Our hosting provider runs the servers the site is delivered from and keeps the server logs described above.
- Security. Security services protect the site against attacks and abuse, and process technical data such as IP addresses for that purpose.
- Spam protection. Cloudflare Turnstile protects the contact form from spam. It loads only on the contact page. Cloudflare receives the challenge result, your IP address, and basic browser details. We rely on legitimate interest to keep the form usable; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Embedded video. Some articles include YouTube videos. Before you press play, the page shows the video's preview image, which your browser loads from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com); that request shares your IP address and basic browser details with Google. The player itself loads only after you click, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Google's privacy policy applies to that processing.
Legal bases
For visitors in the EU and UK: we rely on your consent for anything optional, such as embedded videos, and on legitimate interest for the processing needed to run and secure the site, such as server logs and the spam check on our contact form. We do not rely on contract, because there is none between us.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
If you are in California or another US state with similar laws, you can ask to know, access, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How to exercise your rights
Email contact@novenmedia.com with your request. Because we collect so little, most requests are simple: a contact form message we can find and delete, or a consent choice you can change yourself through the Cookie settings link in the footer.
How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for the period set by our host's retention schedule. Contact form messages are kept until your request is handled, plus a reasonable record of the correspondence. Consent choices live in your own browser and expire on their own schedule; clearing your cookies removes them.
Children
techshooked is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Third-party links
Our articles link to sources and other websites. Once you leave techshooked, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we update this page and the date below. Material changes, such as adding analytics or advertising, are made here before they take effect.
