Samsung expanded its Galaxy Book6 laptop lineup with a new 14-inch model that starts at $799, according to Samsung. The entry-level configuration runs an Intel Core 3 or Core 5 processor with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, positioned as the most accessible entry point into the Galaxy Book6 family so far.

That price lands roughly in line with mid-range Windows laptops and premium Chromebooks, a segment Samsung has largely ceded to rivals while its pricier Book6 configurations chased the premium tier. Extending Galaxy AI down to a sub-$800 machine is the more notable move, since those features have mostly stayed on laptops with more processing headroom to run them.

The pitch is accessibility, not power. Samsung trimmed the component list rather than the core experience, then carried over the same Galaxy AI software it runs across the rest of the Galaxy Book range. "With the new Galaxy Book6, we wanted to make the Galaxy Book experience available for more people," said Mincheol Lee, an executive vice president at Samsung Electronics.

Nothing about the internals reads as cut-rate. Samsung kept the 14-inch panel at WUXGA resolution rather than dropping to a cheaper 1080p equivalent, and rates the 61.2Wh battery at up to 25 hours. A 45W charger recovers about a third of that in half an hour. Configurations climb to 1TB of storage and 16GB of memory, and the laptop weighs 1.35kg, just under three pounds.

Port selection stays generous for the price. Two USB-C, a USB-A, and an HDMI port keep existing monitors, docks, and drives working without an adapter, and Samsung kept the 3.5mm headphone jack. A 2-megapixel webcam and Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers handle video calls. The new model adds a Violet Silver finish alongside the existing Gray, and buyers can choose Windows 11 or Linux by region.

If you've used Galaxy AI on a Galaxy phone, the laptop version will feel familiar. You can highlight text or an image with AI Select and get a searchable summary or a background-free cutout without switching apps. Note Assist condenses a long recording or document into something you can skim in seconds, and Quick Share moves files to a nearby Galaxy phone or another Book6 with one tap. Multi Control and Second Screen extend the Windows desktop across nearby Galaxy devices, and Link to Windows mirrors notifications from an Android phone.

Samsung says the new Galaxy Book6 is available in select markets now, with additional markets to follow, and specifications vary by region. What's still unclear is how soon the entry-level configuration reaches those additional markets, and whether Samsung holds the line on price once it does.
