League of Legends is ending the current run of League Classic, the early-seasons throwback mode Riot Games introduced in July with 60 champions. The mode stays playable through the end of Season 3 Act II on January 6, 2027, and Riot's goal is to bring Classic back later, likely as an event mode with adjustments and additions.

Riot says most players have gone back to other parts of League of Legends, and in the regions where that shift was strongest, queue times grew long and matchmaking ratings spread wide. Those regions are getting windowed queues, which Riot lists as upcoming and says Patch Notes will confirm, while Classic custom games stay available everywhere at all times.

The Act II Classic Pass opens October 20 at 11:00am PT, according to Riot. Progress ends January 4 at 11:59pm PT, and the pass deactivates a day later. Act II has six tiers and a single free track. Players earn Classic Pass Coins from missions and spend at least 125 coins to unlock each next tier, with rewards that include champions, icons, emotes, skinned runes and, at the top, a random skin.

Portraits, Classic skins and Classic chromas work only inside League Classic, and Riot is refunding the portraits in RP by November 30. A portrait bought directly returns the RP spent. Each portrait from the paid Act I pass returns 200 RP, the Classic Welcome Bundle's Resplendent Explorer Ezreal portrait returns 2,000 RP, and the Collector's Box returns the share of its price attributed to portraits. Riot will also refund in RP a Classic chroma bought on its own, plus the Classic Annie and Classic Alistar chromas from the welcome bundles, while Classic skins, which unlock automatically with each champion, are not on its refund list. Players who bought the Act I pass directly with cash, and Collector's Box buyers, can instead ask Player Support for a refund to the original payment method within 30 days. Collector's Box buyers who still want the physical box can keep it and have the digital content removed for a refund of 12,212 RP.

From patch 26.21 the Classic store in League of Legends sells only champions, runes and rune pages. Irelia, Karma, Quinn, Aatrox and Caitlyn arrived in 26.20, and Mordekaiser, Yorick, Hecarim and Lucian follow in 26.21. New champions keep coming every patch through 26.23, including Volibear, Urgot and Udyr, the top three picks in the latest Council community poll.
