Melvor Idle 2, the idle RPG sequel from developer Games by Malcs, enters Steam Early Access on November 17, 2026, with Jagex publishing it under the subtitle A RuneScape Adventure. Jagex says the original Melvor Idle sold more than 1 million units.

Melvor Idle 2 is a single-player game that pairs incremental idle mechanics with RPG skilling systems inspired by RuneScape. Jagex lists five new skills, which lifts the total to 29, plus a rebuilt Mastery system covering every skill and a new Quest system built around the history of the Melvor setting. It also promises refreshed graphics, audio and animations, and game modes it describes as a first for the franchise, aimed at players of all skill levels. Progress continues offline, so characters keep training while the game is closed.

Games by Malcs founder Brendan Malcom called the tie-up "a dream come true," noting that the first game began as a small project inspired by RuneScape. Anna Mostyn-Williams, Jagex's senior director of business development and partnerships, said Jagex wants to bring Melvor Idle 2 closer to the RuneScape universe.

Games by Malcs puts the maximum skill level at 120 and says Melvor Idle 2 is fully moddable through an in-game mod manager. The studio also lists a customizable day and night cycle with weather, an in-game codex that tracks item sources and uses, hourly rate tracking for the current action, and Steam Cloud saves. The interface is English only.

Games by Malcs says Early Access may take 12 to 18 months to finish the planned content and that the price will stay the same when the full version ships; neither company has given that price yet. Players who want to try the idle loop first can download a demo on Steam now, ahead of the November 17 Early Access launch.
