Peak is heading to PlayStation 5 on October 22, about sixteen months after the co-op climbing game reached Steam in June 2025. Console players get the game as it stands today, not as it first shipped.
The PS5 version includes every content update, biome and item added since the original launch, according to Team Peak, the two studios behind the game. The PS5 launch also brings crossplay, so a player can climb with up to three friends whatever platform they play on. On Steam, the PC version runs on Windows only and its multiplayer works through friends-only invites.
The premise is unchanged. Players are lost nature scouts on a mysterious island, and their only hope of rescue, the studios say, is to climb the mountain at its center, crossing four biomes along the way. Hazards range from tornadoes and poison clouds to birds and zombies. Scouts scavenge for food and nurse injuries, and each setback cuts into the stamina they need to keep climbing. Custom runs let a group tune the difficulty up or down, and the studios note they also let players physically kick a teammate. On Steam, the island layout changes every 24 hours.
The studios have not given a PS5 price. On Steam, the Windows version sells for $7.99.
Peak started as a one-month game jam in Seoul in February 2025, when three developers from Seattle's Aggro Crab and four from Stockholm's Landfall shut themselves in a rented apartment. According to the studios, the theme had come up months earlier in a hot tub in Sweden. After the jam, Landfall went back to finishing Haste while Aggro Crab kept developing Peak alongside other projects, and both teams met in Sweden that June to complete the game together. The collaboration pairs Landfall, the Stockholm studio behind Content Warning and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, with Aggro Crab, the Seattle team that made Another Crab's Treasure and Going Under.
