TT Games is handing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight over to its villains. The Mayhem Collection DLC lets players spend an entire expansion playing as The Joker and Harley Quinn instead of the Caped Crusader, arriving September 18 for Xbox Series X|S.

The LEGO Batman expansion draws heavily on Batman: The Animated Series, the early-1990s show that introduced Harley Quinn to the character's mythology. Cutscenes render in the same boxy 4:3 aspect ratio the series used, and a Gotham City storefront named Sorkin's Gems pays tribute to Arleen Sorkin, the original voice of Harley Quinn, who died in 2023. A new story mission retells Harley's origin from Dr. Harleen Quinzel through her first meeting with The Joker, including an Arkham Asylum breakout staged as a going-away party.

After escaping Arkham, The Joker and Harley set up a hideout beneath Amusement Mile's Funhouse that LEGO Batman players can decorate with new villain-themed props. From there, Mayhem Mode sends them on repeatable, timed runs across a locked-down stretch of Gotham's North Island, robbing shops, smashing ATMs, spraying graffiti, stealing cars, and fighting A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X for Studs that unlock 30 new outfits and hideout upgrades. A new character, Henchmaster, lets players recruit rescued Arkham inmates into a customizable crew that fights alongside the two leads.

TT Games design director Jimmy Sedota detailed the design choices behind the expansion, saying the studio wanted The Joker and Harley to feel distinct from the main campaign's heroes through a heavier focus on ranged, gadget-based combat suited to Mayhem Mode's run-and-gun pace. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight originally shipped at $69.99 through publisher Warner Bros. Games with seven playable heroes led by Batman, Jim Gordon, and Catwoman across an open Gotham City, and the Mayhem Collection now extends that same city to its villains.
