Google Adds AI Overviews and Text-Prompt Dashboards to Ads, Analytics

Google is adding AI-generated overviews, text-prompt dashboards, and a new benchmarking tool across Google Ads and Analytics, built on its Ask Advisor AI agent.

Google added new AI-generated summaries, custom dashboards, and a benchmarking tool across Google Ads and Google Analytics, extending the Gemini-powered Ask Advisor assistant already built into its marketing platforms.

Per Google, the update adds three capabilities. AI Overviews now sit at the top of the Analytics homepage, surfacing an instant summary of account changes, such as seasonal sales swings or traffic shifts, since a marketer's last login; clicking a data card carries that context straight into Ask Advisor for deeper analysis. A revamped Google Ads homepage adds personalized AI insight cards, and a prompt box above them lets marketers type a question, such as how a competitor is affecting impression share, and get a custom answer back.

The most substantial addition is Dashboards, a new Google Ads feature (coming later to Analytics) that turns a text prompt into a visual report and automatically generates a real-time summary explaining what is driving the underlying numbers. Google Analytics also gains a benchmarking tool inside Ask Advisor that compares a campaign's performance against anonymized averages from similar businesses, positioned as a faster way to spot where a strategy is falling behind competitors.

Josh Moser, Google Ads senior director of product management, said the tools are meant to help marketers "move from insight to action even faster" while keeping them in control of strategic decisions. Kevin Marshall, paid media director at marketing agency Gardyn, said Ask Advisor has become his "go-to for a directional check on paid media performance," giving him more time to dig into deeper shifts before they affect a campaign.

The AI Overviews and insight cards are in beta and limited to English-language accounts; Google has not said when it will expand them further. Dashboards is live now in Google Ads, with the Analytics version still pending, and both features fold automated analysis directly into the homepage marketers already check first rather than living as a separate tool.
