Gran Turismo 7 received the first installment of its Spec IV update today, a free download that adds six cars, the Sportsland Sugo circuit and a round of new events. PlayStation also gave a first look at a Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense controller, priced at $84.99 and due December 10.

The update goes live at 11:00 pm PDT on October 14, which is 7:00 am BST and 3:00 pm JST on October 15. Beyond the cars and circuit, it brings new Car Viewer features, an Experience mode, six World Circuit events and additional Scapes photo locations. Gran Turismo 7 needs an internet connection to apply it.

The car list runs from the newest design exercise to a 1980s French economy car. The Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo is an electric hypercar, and PlayStation quotes a drag coefficient of 0.29 for it. Joining it are the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26 and the Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23, all sold through Brand Central. Sony Interactive Entertainment says Used Cars stocks the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94 and the Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston '86, while the Honda Civic Si Group A version '87 sits in Legend Cars. The update costs nothing, but the cars do not come with it: players need credits, earned in play or bought, to add each one to a garage.

The controller marks 30 years of the series. PlayStation describes racing stripes, motorsport-style graphics and a textured, carbon-fiber-style front plate. Kazunori Yamauchi, who runs developer Polyphony Digital, calls it a way to celebrate "the journey we have shared together."

Pricing is $84.99 in the US, with actual retailer prices that may differ. Pre-orders open October 22 at 10:00 am local time, direct from PlayStation where available and through participating retailers; US buyers can order through direct.playstation.com. Supply is described as limited and the controller launches globally starting December 10, so the October 22 window is the date to watch for anyone who wants one. The staged rollout also implies more Spec IV content to come, though PlayStation gave no schedule for it.
