ELEGOO M1 Ultra Handheld 3D Scanner Opens for Pre-Order at $1,599 Early-Bird Price

ELEGOO's first all-in-one smart 3D scanner is on pre-order at $1,599 until Nov. 12, then $1,699; accuracy depends on the scanning mode.

ELEGOO M1 Ultra is the company's first all-in-one smart 3D scanner, a handheld unit that opened for pre-order October 29 at a $1,699 list price in the US. The Shenzhen maker, known for resin and filament printers, laser engravers and STEM kits, calls it all-in-one; the 511 g unit, battery included, has a 3-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi 6 and a swappable 4,800 mAh battery.

Pricing runs in two tiers. ELEGOO sets the M1 Ultra list price at $1,699 and an early-bird price of $1,599 for purchases from October 29 through November 12, with prices varying by region. ELEGOO's stores list it as a pre-order, and US orders are due to ship before November 10, with later dates elsewhere. A spare battery ships in the box; ELEGOO rates one charge at up to 1.5 hours of wireless scanning.

ELEGOO advertises five scanning modes, including a marker-free blue laser mode; its specifications table breaks out four, and the accuracy figure depends on which one is active:

ModeLight sourceAccuracyPoints per second
High-speed34 crossed blue laser linesUp to 0.02 mm2,040,000
Detailed7 parallel blue laser linesUp to 0.02 mm840,000
Deep-holeSingle blue laser lineUp to 0.02 mm120,000
NIR markerlessInfrared structured lightUp to 0.05 mm6,451,200

In ELEGOO's table, the headline 0.02 mm applies to the three blue laser columns; the infrared markerless mode is rated at 0.05 mm. ELEGOO says accuracy is evaluated under laboratory conditions and that actual results may vary. Error also grows with part size. In high-speed mode ELEGOO gives a volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per meter, which works out to 0.14 mm on a 2 m object.

The M1 Ultra's raw scans become models in ELEGOO SCAN, which runs mesh wrapping, mesh optimization and color mapping in one click and exports STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC files for compatible third-party software. ELEGOO says the scanner handles data capture, compression and image processing on board, sharing the workload with a PC, and it publishes PC requirements. The minimum is Windows 10 or 11 with a 7th-generation Core i7, an NVIDIA GPU with 6 GB of VRAM and 16 GB of RAM, or macOS 14 on an Apple M2 with 16 GB.

ELEGOO recommends a 13th-generation Core i7, an RTX 4060 or better with 8 GB of VRAM and 32 GB of RAM, or an Apple M4 or later with 32 GB. In the laser modes, wireless streaming to the PC is rated at up to 50 frames per second at 1920 x 1200, against 80 over the USB cable; the infrared mode is rated at up to 30 either way.
