AMD is bringing FSR Upscaling 4.1 to Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, Ryzen AI Max systems, Ryzen AI 9 laptops and handhelds with select Ryzen Z2 chips, with Xbox Series X|S consoles to follow. The machine-learning upscaler rebuilds a sharp picture from lower-resolution frames, and AMD calls the image quality gain over FSR 3.1 a significant leap.
FSR 4 began in 2025 as an exclusive of the Radeon RX 9000 series, and FSR Upscaling 4.1 reached RX 7000 cards in July 2026, when AMD promised it would come to more platforms. On PCs, this expansion ships in Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1.
In the release notes for that driver, AMD lists Ryzen AI Max 300 and 400 series and Ryzen AI 9 300 and 400 series as the supported Ryzen chips, alongside RX 6000 cards. The upscaler doesn't arrive as one model. RX 6000 cards, which first launched in 2020, get an optimized version of the INT8 model AMD originally built for RX 7000 cards. Ryzen AI 9 chips and the Z2 handheld processors get a separate, more efficient version made for that class of hardware. On Ryzen AI Max, AMD calls it the upscaler's official debut on mobile APUs.
AMD says that group includes Ryzen AI Halo PCs and the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and TUF A14 laptops, with support in hundreds of games.
| Hardware | Availability | Model |
|---|---|---|
| Radeon RX 6000 series | Driver 26.10.1 | INT8 model tuned from the RX 7000 version |
| Ryzen AI Max 300 and 400 | Driver 26.10.1 | Not specified |
| Ryzen AI 9 300 and 400 | Driver 26.10.1 | More efficient version |
| Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A handhelds | Set by device maker | More efficient version |
| Xbox Series X|S | Coming soon | Not specified |
RX 6000 owners get it with the driver. Handheld owners wait on their device makers: Adrenalin Edition does not cover handheld gaming devices, AMD points users to the maker for device drivers, and it says availability and timing vary by device. AMD names the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X, with its Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, as one handheld in line for it.
In AMD's announcement video, Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet confirmed that FSR Upscaling 4.1 is coming soon to Xbox Series X|S consoles.
AMD also announced Vulkan support for FSR 4 and better frame pacing for FSR Frame Generation, with details on its gaming site.
