Verizon will charge $10 a month for iPhone Handoff, a feature that lets one Verizon phone number serve two compatible iPhones running iOS 27. The carrier has not said when the service starts. It lists Handoff as "coming soon," while the new iPhone Duo reaches stores on October 23 after pre-orders that opened October 16.
Handoff works like a switch. Customers change which of the two iPhones is active whenever they like, and the active phone keeps full access to Verizon's 5G network. In Verizon's example, the Duo is the phone for being out and about and the iPhone 18 Pro is the one for work. You pick the phone, and the number goes with it.
Both phones need to be compatible models on iOS 27. Verizon names the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Duo as examples. The Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone, with a 7.6-inch inner display that closes down to a 5.4-inch outer screen, and it takes an eSIM only.
Verizon's Duo offer shows what the phone and the line cost a customer who switches to Verizon with a new line, at 0% APR on the phone and with Auto Pay on the plan.
| Item | Monthly price |
|---|---|
| iPhone Duo, 256 GB, 48-month payment plan | $42 |
| Simplicity plan, new line when switching, Auto Pay | $30 |
| Duo offer total, before taxes and fees | $72 |
The $30 Simplicity plan price assumes Auto Pay and a $15 monthly switch discount, so a line without that discount pays $45 with Auto Pay. Verizon has not said which plans Handoff works with or whether the $10 is charged per line. If it is added to a Simplicity line, the arithmetic comes to $40 a month for a switcher and $55 without the discount, before taxes, fees and either phone's payments.
Simplicity includes unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10 GB of premium mobile hotspot and roaming in Canada and Mexico; its satellite texting works only on select Android phones.
Verizon's iPhone 18 Pro offer covers the 256 GB model with a new or upgraded line on the Simplicity Plan with Simplicity Pro. On a 36-month payment plan it earns $1,200 in bill credits over that term, and customers can upgrade every year by returning the phone in good working condition once 33% of the device agreement is paid. Postpaid customers who enroll in Verizon Loyalty skip activation and upgrade fees, which Verizon puts at up to $40 per device.
