The ASUS ROG XG Station 3 lets a Thunderbolt 5 laptop run a full-size desktop graphics card through a single cable. ASUS Republic of Gamers built the dock around an open frame, so the card sits uncovered with unobstructed airflow to its fans. The link between laptop and dock runs at up to 80Gbps in both directions, which ASUS rates at twice Thunderbolt 4, and a Bandwidth Boost mode reaches up to 120Gbps in one direction for high-volume video traffic.
The ROG XG Station 3 accepts GeForce RTX 50 series, RTX PRO 6000 series, Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel Arc cards. ASUS lists the largest supported card at 361 by 139.3 by 93.9 mm on the dock's product page. A GC-HPWR slot feeds BTF 2.5 cards such as the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 BTF OC Edition and the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 BTF Edition with no visible power cable, while a standard card leaves its PCIe power cable in view.
The ASUS ROG XG Station 3 ships without a power supply. Buyers add their own SFX or SFX-L unit, and ASUS recommends 750W or higher with an 80 PLUS Gold rating or better. The box holds a 100 cm Thunderbolt 5 cable, a quick start guide and a warranty card. The dock itself measures 324.6 by 173.0 by 104.7 mm. A buyer without a spare graphics card and power supply needs both on top of the dock, and ASUS did not give the dock's price or release date with the launch.
The upstream port passes up to 140W of USB Power Delivery to the laptop, which ASUS says is enough to fully power a wide range of models. A second port faces downstream. It connects USB-C monitors, with support for up to three 4K displays, and supplies up to 36W to phones or peripherals. Two USB 10Gbps Type-C ports on the front handle gaming gear and external storage, and Aura Sync matches the dock's RGB lighting to other Aura-compatible gear.
The dock works with any laptop that has a Thunderbolt 5 or Thunderbolt 4 port, ASUS says, with Thunderbolt 4 hosts connecting through backward compatibility. ASUS puts Thunderbolt 4 at 40Gbps, half the Thunderbolt 5 figure. The laptop's port must also support external GPUs, and ASUS advises checking with the PC maker. The supported operating system is Windows 11 version 25H2 or later; macOS is not supported.
