LangChain Fleet Adds One-Click Slack Deployment for AI Agents

LangChain Fleet now deploys purpose-built AI agents to Slack in one click, giving each agent its own identity, thread-aware responses, and admin-controlled permissions.

LangChain Fleet now deploys AI agents directly into Slack with a single click, putting purpose-built automation in the hands of every team member inside the collaboration tool where most work already happens.

The capability, described in a LangChain post published July 15, extends Fleet (the no-code agent layer of the LangSmith platform) into Slack by giving each deployed agent its own persistent identity: a name, description, and icon that teammates recognize across channels. Once active, a Fleet agent behaves as a dedicated Slack participant, responding in the thread where a request originated, attaching files, asking clarifying questions when context is missing, and requesting human approval before taking actions that carry real-world consequences, such as sending an email.

The design is deliberately specialized. Unlike a general-purpose assistant, a Fleet agent carries a fixed set of skills, tool connections, and scoped permissions: a bug-triage agent, for example, can access error logs and on-call schedules without touching a company's broader credential set. LangChain points to 11x, a sales AI startup, where CTO Jeson Patel first deployed a triage agent to engineering, then expanded to on-call alerts and a product Q&A agent that sales staff pull up on live customer calls.

Building an agent requires no code: users describe what they want in natural language or choose from prebuilt templates. An Executive Assistant and a Software Engineer template ship with Fleet, each with a short onboarding flow that configures the required app connections and background knowledge. Admins retain governance across the full agent roster through spend limits, per-agent access controls, and decisions about who can view, run, or edit each agent.

Slack is the first high-adoption workplace surface to get one-click Fleet deployment. LangChain has published separate Slack app documentation covering the setup steps and permission model, with Fleet positioned as the build-and-configure layer and Slack as the surface where teams interact with agents in practice.
