The Pinterest Beauty Trend Report, the company's first, sorts fall beauty into 11 themes, from copper hair to chrome nails, and it doubles as the launch vehicle for Beauty Guides, a new feature for hair and nail Pins. Beauty Guides are live for iOS users in the US, and Pinterest says wider availability will roll out over the coming weeks.

The feature works from a Pin opened in Closeup. A "Get the Guide" button leads to a breakdown of the look: what to ask for at the salon, similar inspiration and shoppable products. Users can save the guide for an appointment or use it to try the look themselves. Guides cover only hair and nails for now, while most themes in the Pinterest Beauty Trend Report sit elsewhere. Arctic Frost and Cheeky Flush cover makeup, Skinvested covers body care, and a separate theme covers fragrance.

Pinterest backs the Pinterest Beauty Trend Report with a user survey and search data. Among weekly users, 85% say they found beauty trends on the platform before seeing them elsewhere, and 64% call it better for trends that feel current. The largest search jumps are in nails and hair: "polka dot cat eye nails" is up 1,585%, "mocha balayage hair" 949% and "caramel nude nails" 943%. These are Pinterest's own figures, and the page gives no time window or baseline for the percentages.

The Pinterest Beauty Trend Report argues that beauty searching has become more specific. People look for a textured French bob rather than a bob, or a dark-red cat-eye manicure rather than a red one. That is the gap Beauty Guides targets: a precise image is easy to save and hard to describe to a stylist, and the guide supplies the request. For anyone scrolling pink-hair stripes or cat-eye nails this fall, a saved Pin can now go to the chair with a list of what to ask for.
