Siri AI Adds Five Languages with the 27.2 Updates

Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in the 27.2 updates, with four more languages due by year end and the EU excluded on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, joining English, with the 27.2 releases of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS that shipped on October 26. The feature is labeled a beta in all five systems, and it needs an Apple Intelligence device whose device and Siri language are both set to a supported one.

Siri AI is Apple's rebuild of its assistant on top of Apple Intelligence. The company says it draws on personal context across messages, email and photos, takes systemwide app actions such as drafting an email or editing and sharing a set of photos, reads what is on the screen, and pulls in world knowledge for current information on virtually any topic.

Apple Intelligence itself runs in 16 languages, counting simplified and traditional Chinese separately. The assistant covers six of them today and reaches ten once the year-end additions land. German, Italian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish and simplified Chinese have no date from Apple.

In the EU, the assistant is unavailable on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says it is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward and gives no timetable. It also says some features may not be available in all regions or languages.

Siri AI also ships on new hardware. Apple's new iPad mini runs iPadOS 27 with Siri AI, opens for pre-order in 36 countries and regions on October 28 and is available from November 6.

Apple says certain features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, intelligent photo editing, Image Playground and the AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts, have daily limits that vary with factors including the feature, the complexity of the request and system demand. Apple's usage terms for Apple Intelligence add that a feature can become unavailable or limited until its limit resets, and Apple says expanded access to those features will be available for a fee in the future.
