Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Drops Squads into Hajin to Loot and Extract

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ is a persistent extraction mode set in Hajin, with threat levels, hunt squads, a radiation clock and a growing base.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ sends squads into Hajin, a war-torn region once split between North and South Korean control, with a single job: scavenge, finish objectives and make it out in one piece.

Call of Duty's Modern Warfare 4 DMZ guide describes the mode as a persistent, open-world extraction shooter, and anything a team hauls out is worth keeping only if it reaches the helicopter. Each run starts from the Forward Operating Base, a hub that grows into more than a dozen stations as players finish Operations. The base handles the stash, loadouts, a 3D printer for crafting and a gunsmith, and DMZ keeps its own progression track that climbs to level 70. A second guide due later this week covers every station in detail, and Infinity Ward developers appear in a companion video, Addition by Extraction.

The pressure in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ comes from systems that punish noise. Every point of interest carries a threat level from Low to Extreme, and violence raises it, which brings heavier reinforcements. A kill counter on the HUD fills as a player downs enemy soldiers, and once it is full a hunt squad is sent after them and they are Marked for Death. A radiation storm sets a hard clock on top. Rival players never register on that threat readout, so a competing crew can turn up without warning. The safest play is rarely the most profitable one, and the mode seems tuned to keep that tension alive.

Lieutenant hunts show the design best. These tougher bosses drop a weapon and a Dog Tag Case, and the case moves a player along the Boss Board. The tag appears on the Tac-Map for every Operator, though, and carrying it broadcasts the carrier's position. Walking away from the tag still pays out experience points and money. Loot always has a price in Hajin. Roaming Commanders such as the Colossus and the Deathstalker add heavier targets that drop prized 3D printer ingredients.

Leaving is a fight of its own in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. Extraction points announce themselves with green smoke, and a crew must defend the spot until a helicopter touches down. A Fulton balloon or a flare works as an alternative, but the flare is loud and visible from far away. The ping wheel lets squads ask another team for a truce or fold into it. Drivable transport spans a Camper wagon to an Aston Martin Dreadnought SUV, and unlike in Warzone, a damaged or dry vehicle needs a gas station stop.

Each deployment in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ ends with a rating from F to S++ that weighs objectives, combat and looting together. A squad that only scavenges, or only fights, leaves rating points on the table. That blend pushes players toward a mixed run instead of a loot-only one, and the guide's own advice for reaching S-Tier says the same.
