Ricoh GR IVx is a 40mm-equivalent compact in development for winter 2026 or later, as GR IIIx production winds down.

Ricoh GR IVx is a high-end digital compact in development with a newly designed 40mm-equivalent lens and an ISO 100 to 204800 range, per Ricoh.

The lens is the story. Ricoh Imaging says Ricoh GR IVx builds on the RICOH GR IV, launched in September 2025, which pushed the series' core values of image quality, quick response, and portability. The new 26.1 mm F2.8 lens (about 40 mm in 35 mm terms) sits close to human vision, a different snapshot geometry from the GR IV's 28mm-equivalent wide-angle. Ricoh says that shift opens new possibilities for street and everyday shooting and that other new functions will come with the official product announcement.

Development-stage specs for Ricoh GR IVx list an APS-C CMOS sensor at 23.3 x 15.5 mm with about 25.74 million effective pixels, sensor-shift 5-axis shake reduction, hybrid phase and contrast AF, and that same ISO span. Still capture is 14-bit DNG RAW plus JPEG. Video is 4K at 30p or 24p and Full HD up to 60p, with a 25-minute or 4 GB clip cap. Internal storage is about 53 GB, plus microSD. The body is about 109.4 x 61.1 x 33.4 mm and about 265 g with battery and card. Battery life is quoted at about 250 stills under CIPA conditions on the DB-120 pack.

Ricoh also said production of the current RICOH GR IIIx, GR IIIx HDF, and GR IIIx Urban Edition will end with units shipped in October 2026 in Japan, with overseas end dates possibly different, because certain parts are going out of supply.

Release timing for Ricoh GR IVx is planned for winter 2026 or later. Specs and design are those as of the development announcement and may change. The GR line has long split 28 mm and 40 mm bodies. This model keeps that fork alive as the IIIx family leaves the line.
