Star Wars: Galactic Racer reached Amazon Luna on October 6, the same day the racing game went on sale on every other platform. Prime members with Luna access get the single-player campaign from the first day, so the streaming service is not waiting for a late port.
Amazon says Star Wars: Galactic Racer is available in all territories where Luna is offered with Prime, and describes the Luna version in terms of the campaign. Its Luna announcement does not give a separate price or list device requirements. Access rides on the Prime membership.
Fuse Games developed Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Amazon describes the studio as founded by racing veterans whose individual credits include the Burnout and Need for Speed series. The story is set early in the New Republic era. A fan named Darius Pax has built an underground racing circuit called the Galactic League, and players take the role of Shade, a lone racer chasing glory and revenge.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is built around runs. Each run asks for choices about route, events and upgrades, and a racer who survives long enough earns a place among the league's elite pilots. Vehicle classes change the driving. Landspeeders are built for takedowns and clean cornering, speeder bikes for hard braking and fast launches, and the new skim speeder rewards momentum and tight lines through narrow gaps. Podracers sit apart, because Amazon says their speed means they only race other podracers.
Tracks in Star Wars: Galactic Racer mix familiar and new ground. Jakku's wrecked Star Destroyers and AT-ATs form one course, the frozen terrain of Ando Prime another, and Sentinel I adds toxic fumes and acid rivers that can interfere with an engine. Sebulba, the Dug racer from The Phantom Menace, returns as a rival.
Amazon also lists Arcade, with short timed or objective-based events on a set track and vehicle, and Scenarios, with longer runs under different rule sets and characters. The post frames Luna access around the campaign and does not say how those two modes apply to the Luna version. For Prime subscribers, the practical result is a licensed Star Wars racer they can start playing through Luna at the same moment as everyone else, with the story mode as the way in.
