The Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Beta opened on PlayStation 5 after the Call of Duty: Next event, with two Beta weekends of multiplayer content running ahead of the game's October 23 launch.

Weekend One runs through August 25 at 10:00 a.m. PT for players who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 4 or redeemed a Beta Code. The Open Beta, Weekend Two, runs from August 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT through September 1, with no pre-order or code required; installs and progression carry over between weekends. Eight Beta rewards unlock at Level 30, including the Dread Tiger Operator Skin for Reece and the Level 30 Beta Forged Weapon Blueprint for the Han 86 Assault Rifle.

PlayStation says the Beta spans 22 weapons with Gunsmith customization and new Apex Attachments that alter weapon behavior without using a standard attachment slot. Movement returns to grounded, boots-on-the-ground combat with climbing, ledge hangs, and chained maneuvers, supported by the Mobility Course training facility.

Six Core 6v6 maps rotate through Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus, and Lithium. Classic modes are joined by Inflation, a cash-bounty twist on elimination, and Hijack, where teams fight over a Data Spike. Kill Block reconfigures the Westbridge Training Facility between rounds into more than 500 combinations for 3v3 Gunfight or Gunfight 10v10, while Ground War: Combat Outpost brings 24v24 combat to Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium.

PlayStation describes the Beta as the first with a Campaign mission playable before launch: Entrenched, a large-scale assault to keep a nuclear power station from falling to enemy forces. Weekend Two adds Call of Duty Warzone Resurgence on Zodiac, a new map around a DRC Advanced Systems drone assembly headquarters, where Contracts shorten redeployment timers.
