The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ reached US shelves on October 7, a week after Samsung introduced them. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 line is built to let a tablet stand in for a laptop on the road, and its prices put it in laptop territory.
Samsung lists the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra at $1,399.99 and the Tab S12+ at $1,199.99, in Gray or Silver. Both are sold at Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores and retailers nationwide, and an S Pen comes in the box. For a limited time, buyers of either tablet get 30% off the Pro Keyboard or the Book Cover Keyboard Slim, which are sold separately.
The Ultra carries a 14.6-inch screen and the Tab S12+ a 12.6-inch one, both Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with 120Hz adaptive refresh and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Both are rated IP68 for water and dust. Samsung rates battery life at up to 23 hours on the Ultra and 21 hours on the Tab S12+ in a video-playback test, and quotes about 95 minutes for a full charge with a 45W adapter. That adapter is sold separately.
In its launch release, Samsung puts the Ultra at 5.1mm, its thinnest Galaxy Tab, and says the tablets run Android 17 with One UI 9. A 3nm processor, Samsung says, delivers 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% better GPU performance than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Those are comparisons between the two Ultra models, so the Tab S12+ gains are not stated. Samsung adds a redesigned 3D Vapor Chamber to keep that speed up during long editing sessions and a four-channel spatial audio system, twice the channel count of the previous generation.
Samsung also pegs the bundled software perks at roughly $445. That figure covers free trials and first-subscription discounts, among them a six-month Google AI Pro trial and offers for Adobe Photoshop, Notability and LumaFusion, so it is promotional value rather than cash off. A buyer weighing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra against a laptop should also budget for a keyboard and the 45W charger, since neither ships in the box.
