Ring Adds First Smart Lock, Four 4K Cameras and a Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam

Ring introduced its first smart lock, with a power dial that revives a dead battery by hand, plus four 4K cameras and a pan-tilt indoor cam.

Ring built its first smart lock around the failure every battery-powered lock shares, a dead battery. Ring Smart Lock has a dial built into its body, and Ring says a few turns of it will bring the lock back to life for someone who gets home to a drained cell. The company introduced the lock alongside four new 4K cameras and a pan-tilt indoor camera, and only some of the lineup can be bought today.

Ring Smart Lock offers four ways in without a key: a fingerprint reader, a backlit touchscreen keypad, the Ring app and Alexa. It connects over Amazon Sidewalk instead of home wifi, which Ring presents as a way to stop worrying about router placement, though its own footnote says Sidewalk coverage varies by location. The lock fits a standard single-cylinder deadbolt without extra wiring, works with Ring Doorbells, cameras and Alarm, and logs each event in the app's activity feed. Some app features, digital arming among them, need a compatible Ring subscription. Finishes are black, silver and brass, with a U.S. release planned for early 2027.

The camera news extends Ring's Retinal Vision 4K line into more housings. Ring lists Outdoor Cam 4K Plus in battery, plug-in, hardwired, solar and PoE versions, and Spotlight Cam 4K Plus, which adds a 550-lumen spotlight, in battery, plug-in and solar. Floodlight Cam 4K Plus supports 24/7 recording and smart detection; Ring says the recording needs a subscription and keeps clips in the cloud for up to 14 days. Indoor Cam 4K, the first Ring indoor camera with Retinal 4K, has a 115-degree view, dual-band wifi 6 and a physical privacy shutter.

Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K is the one that moves. Ring says it pans through 360 degrees, tilts 175 degrees and follows motion on its own, using computer-vision motion detection. A physical shutter cuts both camera and microphone when closed. Among Ring's indoor models, the choice is between 4K detail and a wider reach at lower resolution.

Availability splits by device. Indoor Cam 4K and Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K are on sale in the U.S. now, with preorders open in Canada and eight European markets, plus Australia and New Zealand for the pan-tilt model. Floodlight Cam 4K Plus and Spotlight Cam 4K Plus are on preorder in eleven markets, and Outdoor Cam 4K Plus adds Japan. Ring gave no prices for any of the devices. Only the lock has to wait: everything else is either on sale or open for preorder.
