Fangtopia, a Halloween-themed tile-laying puzzle game from the studio Absolutely Games, reaches PlayStation 5 on October 26. Absolutely Games is pitching it as low-stakes seasonal comfort: a build-your-own-world game with cartoon monsters, no timers, and an undo button for every move.
According to Absolutely Games, Fangtopia has players lay hexagonal tiles around a castle of their choosing, matching terrain across six tile types (fields, towns, mountains, forests, railroads, and rivers) to score points and clear objectives. There is no time limit, but there is a tile limit, so the game is about spending a finite deck well rather than racing a clock. Objectives attached to special landmarks return fresh tiles to that deck when completed, which is how a single run keeps growing.
The core loop will read as familiar to anyone who has played Dorfromantik or the board game Carcassonne: take a tile, find the spot that connects the most matching terrain, and repeat until the stack runs out. Fangtopia layers a spooky-season theme over that structure. Portals surface in the surrounding ocean, and opening one summons a creature such as a gremlin, werewolf, or banshee that gifts bonus tiles once a player settles it in a fitting habitat. A Stickerbook records the landmarks and buildings collected along the way.
Two modes are ready at launch. The default Fangtopia mode targets short sessions. Ghoulish mode adds the river tile type, lets players swap the tile they are about to place, deals larger tile groups that must be set down together, and provides a bigger stack for longer games. Absolutely Games said more modes may follow after release, and PlayStation's post is tagged with an unexplained "Secret Mode."
PlayStation is framing the release around the run-up to Halloween and around portable play, noting the game runs on PS5 and can stream to the PlayStation Portal handheld. The announcement does not give a price or a download size. What PlayStation confirms is the platform and the date: PS5, on October 26.
