Oblivion Remastered launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, bringing Bethesda Game Studios' reimagined RPG to portable players for the first time. Both digital and physical editions went live on the date, with pre-orders available in the weeks prior.
The Standard Edition bundles the base game with the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, plus eight additional content packs: Fighter's Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard's Tower, The Orrery, and the Horse Armor Pack, per Bethesda. The Deluxe Edition adds unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon Armor, Weapon, and Horse Armor Sets. A physical cartridge is exclusive to the Deluxe Edition; the Standard Edition ships as a digital download through the Nintendo eShop only. Owners of the digital base game can purchase a Deluxe upgrade separately to access those cosmetic quests without buying the full bundle again.
The Switch 2 version integrates with the system's hardware features at launch. Bethesda's day-one patch notes document the performance targets: handheld mode runs at 900p and 30 frames per second; docked mode steps up to 1080p at the same frame rate, with DLSS Anti-Aliasing handling upscaling in both configurations. Motion controls map combat gestures to the Joy-Con 2. A horizontal swing on the right controller delivers a standard attack, a vertical swing triggers a power strike, and shaking the left controller casts a spell. An alternative Joy-Con 2 mouse mode lets players hold the controller flat on its side for pointer-style input. Mouse mode and motion controls cannot run simultaneously.
The launch patch addressed more than two dozen crash scenarios, covering quest-specific failures across Light the Dragonfires, The Cold Flame of Agnon, and The Ultimate Heist, along with fast-travel hang issues and visual glitches across the open world. Bethesda built the Switch 2 port on performance optimizations carried over from the original multiplatform Oblivion Remastered release rather than starting from scratch on the platform.
