ASUS Japan puts a Core i7-14650HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU into a MIL-STD 810H-rated 16-inch gaming laptop, per ASUS. The TUF Gaming 16 (FX610JH) went on sale in Japan on August 21, and the company frames it for gaming as well as photo and video editing work.

The off-black shell carries a WUXGA 16-inch wide TFT color display at 144Hz with a response time around 3ms, per the release. The 16:10 screen fills about 85 percent of the front face, the hinge opens 180 degrees, and the build passes MIL-STD 810H testing for vibration, drops, shocks, and temperature extremes.

Inside sit 16GB of DDR5-5600 across two slots that expand to 64GB, plus one free SSD slot for future storage additions. A redesigned cooling system pairs two fans with 80 blades each at 0.15mm thickness and three heat pipes, which ASUS says holds around 40 decibels even in the 105W turbo mode. A bidirectional AI noise-canceling filter cleans up voice chat in both directions and learns the audio to reduce noise, becoming clearer with each use, and every model supports Hi-Res output from the audio jack.

Power, HDMI, LAN, and USB Type-A ports sit on the back to keep cabling out of the workspace, with another USB Type-A port on the right and, on the left, a USB Type-C port plus a combined microphone, headphone, and headset jack. The case uses a new off-black finish with a scratch- and fingerprint-resistant coating on the top and keyboard surfaces.

ASUS Japan's release did not state a price. Its support program covers repairs regardless of the cause, including drops, water, disasters, and virus damage, in free, paid, and corporate tiers with different coverage periods, repair counts, and deductibles.
