GoPro pushed its MISSION 1 accessory lineup well past a single camera body, packaging two prebuilt creator kits alongside a redesigned Media Mod and a beefier Volta 2 battery grip that turn the year-old cinema-style action camera into something closer to a modular production rig.
GoPro laid out the specifics in its own announcement: the MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition pairs the flagship 50MP, 1-inch-sensor camera, built around GoPro's GP3 processor, with the new Media Mod, the Volta 2 grip, and a wireless mic kit, priced at $1,099.99 MSRP or $949.99 for existing GoPro subscribers. The pricier MISSION 1 PRO Ultimate Creator Edition swaps the Volta 2 grip for GoPro's Fluid Pro AI gimbal, the company's stabilization and subject-tracking hardware, and throws in Light Mod 2 lighting, landing at $1,199.99 MSRP ($1,049.99 for subscribers).
The redesigned Media Mod, sold separately for $149.99, targets audio: it adds a built-in multi-pattern microphone with eight pickup-pattern options plus three 3.5mm ports for an external mic, a timecode-sync line-in, and headset monitoring, along with a micro-HDMI output for 4K60 recording to an external monitor or broadcast setup.
The Volta 2 battery grip, at $139.99, packs a 5,800mAh cell GoPro rates for up to nine hours of 4K30 recording while doubling as a tripod and wireless remote; a $14.99 Universal Adhesive Mount 2-Pack rounds out the drop. All of it, plus both Creator Editions, is selling now at GoPro.com, with GoPro retailers picking up the full lineup in August.
GoPro also shipped a firmware update for MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO that unlocks compatibility with the new accessories and tightens color accuracy and motion-blur handling in the cameras' Dive mode. The push lands while GoPro works through acknowledged financial strain: founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman is lending the company $20 million through a share purchase after GoPro filed "going concern" paperwork warning of a possible bankruptcy filing, and the company reported a $93.5 million loss on roughly 20 percent lower camera sales last fiscal year, according to Digital Camera World's reporting. GoPro is also weighing a potential sale, and it says the mirrorless MISSION 1 PRO ILS, the interchangeable-lens camera meant to round out the lineup, remains on track to reach the market before September 30, 2026, regardless.
