HP Googlebook 14 launched as HP's closed-lid entry in Google's new Googlebook platform, a 14-inch laptop powered by the Snapdragon X Elite platform and built for people who move constantly between a phone and a computer.
The HP Googlebook 14 syncs with supported Android phones through two features HP calls Quick Access and Cast My Apps: a task started on a phone can continue on the laptop, phone files appear directly in the laptop's file browser, and supported phone apps open without a separate install. Google's Gemini assistant is built in as well, with tools HP calls Proactive Suggestions, Magic Pointer and Rambler that surface contextual information and turn rough notes into tidy text. Samuel Chang, HP's senior vice president and division president for consumer personal systems, described the goal as "a laptop that feels more intuitive, connected and responsive to the way people live and work today."
Physically, the HP Googlebook 14 measures 10.91mm thick with up to 19 hours of rated battery life. A vapor chamber cooling system and a compact USB-C GaN charger are meant to keep it cool and portable through a full day away from an outlet, and a light strip on the lid, which HP calls the Glowbar, shows battery and charging status even while the laptop is closed. According to HP's specifications for the Googlebook 14, the display is a 3K OLED touchscreen with a refresh rate up to 120Hz, a 5MP IR camera adds facial recognition through what HP calls Googlebook Face Unlock, and the laptop can drive up to two external UHD monitors alongside its own quad speakers tuned with HP Audio Boost 2.0.
The HP Googlebook 14 also uses recycled metal, post-consumer recycled keyboard components and ocean-bound plastic, and HP says it carries EPEAT Gold with Climate+ certification. The laptop is expected at HP.com and Best Buy in October starting at $1,199.99, and HP says buyers get a 12-month Google AI Pro membership at no added cost plus access to a bundle of apps, including Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, YouTube Premium and NVIDIA GeForce NOW, that the company values at up to $350.
