Insta360 introduced the X6, an 8K flagship that covers full 360-degree capture, subject-tracking flat video, and single-lens action-cam shooting from a single pocket-sized body.
The defining hardware change is the sensor. Dual custom Sony 1/1.1″ square sensors give the X6 full 1-inch equivalent 360 imaging: 33% more sensor area than the X5 and roughly four times the light intake per frame. A triple AI chip, per Insta360, combines a 4nm eight-core flagship processor with two dedicated imaging chips, delivering 500% more compute power than X5 at 106% faster clock speed and 35% lower power draw. The X6 is also the first 360-degree camera with native in-camera Dolby Vision, records 10-bit color across more than 1.07 billion values, and starts at $699.99 for the Standard Bundle.
Three shooting modes define the appeal. In 360 mode, the X6 captures at 8K50fps, preserving the full scene for later reframing. InstaFrame locks onto a person, pet, or object and pulls a clean flat-4K frame from the 360 sphere with no editing step. In single-lens mode, the field of view extends to 170 degrees at 5K60fps or narrows to 4K120fps for slow-motion. One camera now replaces a 360 rig, a tracking gimbal, and a standard action cam.
The AI editing layer runs on Insta360 PanoMind, the company’s in-house 360 multimodal model trained on more than 10,000 hours of footage spanning travel, winter sports, motorcycling, and diving across 30-plus scenarios. Plug the X6 in to charge and AI Director, which reads footage alongside audio and camera motion cues, processes the material, picks the best moments, and pushes a finished highlight cut to the Insta360 app with no manual step required.
Battery capacity is 2600mAh, delivering 140 minutes at 8K30fps recording, 51% longer than X5, with fast charge from empty to 80% in 24 minutes. The X6 is waterproof to 20m bare (IP68) and to 60m with the optional Dive Case Pro, operates down to -20°C, and stores 47GB of footage internally so an SD card is not required. Replaceable Lenses 2.0 are five times more scratch-resistant and 60% cheaper to replace than the previous generation, per Insta360. Connectivity includes NFC, Wi-Fi 6.0 at 100MB/s, and USB 3.0 at 450MB/s.
“It captures everything around you, in any light, and hands you a finished edit before you ever reach for your phone,” said JK Liu, CEO and co-founder of Insta360.
